 Photographic Skills

Manual Focus features	x		I have used this when taking a series of different photographs for my blog such as the first front cover I designed to test skills.
Shutter Speed	x		I have used shutter speed when taking photos for my blog such as using the torch effect where I played with the shutter speed and took a photo in the dark so I could get a writing effect.
Aperture control

A tripod	x		I used a tripod when taking one of my photographs for my final magazine. I have also used a tripod when taking photographs for my blog where the rule of thirds was used.
External flash	x		I have used an external flash when taking photos for my blog in different lights to create different effects and the white balance correct on photographs.
Self timer facility	x		I have used this when taking group photographs etc. as it is easy to use especially when using a tripod along with it.
Light meter
Composition grids	x		I have used this when taking rule of thirds photographs as it means I can understand and clearly see before the photo has been taken whether the model is in the top, middle or bottom of the scale.

Photoshop Skills

Text control	x		I have used this when making my magazine front cover to add sell lines and headlines and a title to my front cover.
Filters	x		I have used this when editing the photograph for my front cover as I wanted a darker, sketchy effect to my photograph.
Brushes	x		I have used brushes on my cd cover where I added birds to the cover using a brush I got from a site online.
Layers	x		I have used layers in all Photoshop documents I have made such as the cd cover and both magazine front covers as it enables you to add different sell lines/images onto the page and if it goes wrong you can easily delete that and try again or delete it all together and still have everything else left on the document.
Opacity control
Shape creation	x		I used this to create an oval for my final front cover which I edited using a brush to give it a graffiti effect in which I put the price of the magazine on the foreground of this so it stood out when looking at the magazine.
Brightness and contrast control	x		I used this when editing the photographs for my magazines as it enables me to make them stand out more and the colours more in composition.

Colour curves adjustment	x		I have used this on the photograph of my final magazine cover, it enabled me to make the photograph lighter and darker in ways so it stood out of the page more and got the effect I wanted.

Margin and column guide creation	x		I used this on the double page spreads I have created, both for my blog and my final piece as it enables everything to be neat and look professional.
Inserting an image ID	x		I have done this on both of my double page spreads as I have edited the photographs in Photoshop and uploaded them so they are in a professional format.
Resizing images in ID	x		I have done this on both of my double page spreads to enable the photographs to sit neatly on the page and look professional.
